Cryogenic Cave Calcite Pearl

This fascinating example of how advanced laser ablation techniques like LA-IRMS can unlock stories hidden in nature’s archives used a cryogenic cave calcite pearl from the ScΔƒriΘ™oara Ice Cave (Romania).

LA-IRMS was used to explore whether the concentric layers truly formed under cryogenic conditions.
