Natural Resources Institute Helsinki Finland (Luke)

Sercon’s Service Engineer Rob Kameny has just completed the installation of a new HS2022 at LUKE (Finland’s Natural Resources Institute) in Helsinki.

This is their second HS2022; the expansion is due to the success of their lab, and the second instrument will be used with laser and environmental analysis prep systems. It will be used for past climate reconstruction and dendrochronology – a dating technique that exploits the annual growth increments of trees to provide a precise estimate of the age (or period since formation) of a tree ring sample.

This is also the lab that did the research into burned timbers from the fire at Notre Dame Cathedral, unlocking the secrets of the High Medieval Ages environmental conditions buried in the charred oak beams taken from the wreckage, using  Sercon Limited IRMS, Teledyne Photon Machines laser ablation and Terra Analitic IsoScell for in-situ δ13C analysis.

If you’d like to talk to us about the HS2022, compatible prep systems as well as its applications, just email sales@sercongroup.com, we’d love to hear from you.

If you’d like to talk to us about applications of LA-IRMS in your research, just email us, we’d love to hear from you.
